What Leader A Country Needs

On May this year, a new leader will be appointed here in the Philippines. To be a leader requires service, dedication, perseverance, flexibility, and courage. 

In my own unbiased opinion, here are the several factors that a leader must have

1. THE LEADER MUST KNOW HOW TO HANDLE PEACE AND ORDER. Each country has its own sets of crimes. Should it be international conflicts, or national disputes, the leader must know how to control these problems and try to get their hands on these issues as much as possible. The leader must strategize and must impose righteous rules and regulations in his/her country og governance. The leader must be able to show the people that he is capable of maintain peace and order. 

2. THE LEADER MUST BE ONE OF US. Yes, I mean, literally one of us. How is the leader supposed to know the problems as much if he/she doesn't experience it firsthand? How is the leader supposed to solve the problems as effective as he/she can all he/she does is look at it or hear about it? The leader must know what it's like to just be a normal citizen. 

3. THE LEADER MUST UNDERSTAND AND COMMUNICATE WITH HIS/HER PEOPLE. Efficient leadership can be achieved with the mutual understanding between the leader and the people. The leader must know about the people's way of life in order for his/her ruling to be as effective as it can be. The leader must be approachable in times of needs and must act right away. We, the people, need someone we can count on and we definitely need someone who knows us so that he/she will know what to do with our needs. 

4. THE LEADER MUST BE ABLE TO KEEP PROMISES. "A person who is koyal to his/her promises, is a person of honor and respect." Our country has suffered countless natural disasters and calamities. When these times come, leaders are expected to act upon the problem as quickly as possible because frankly speaking, there are thousands of families who are affected by these disasters and they all need help. When aid comes, the leader must know how to allot these goods to those who are in need and not just keep it to himself/herself for business/personal purposes. I mean, these aids are for the people affected! They need the food, the clothing, and the shelter in order to survive and who is he/she to take that away from them? The leader must know how to keep his/her promises to his/her people.
